GRinCH organized a clothing FreeCycle during the Chestnut Hill Business Association's Trail of the Lorax event last Saturday September 22nd. Hundreds of citizens participated by donating bags upon bags of clothes, shoes and accessories. Our sponsor, Valley Green Bank, allowed people to drop off their donations at the Chestnut Hill branch 3 days prior to the event.
Hard working volunteers Janna McAndrews, Rena Caref, Mansura, Gayle and GRinCH board members Noreen Spota, Alix Rabin, Linda Rauscher, Lana Corrales, Zeta Cross and Amy Edelman hauled 4 carloads of clothing to the Magarity space that was generously donated for the event by Bowman Properties.
By the end of the event 4 carloads of clothing dwindled to 1 carload which was taken to Meenal Raval's FreeCycle at the Mt Airy Village Fair!
The concept of the FreeCycle--to pass on and "reuse" things you no longer want is central to the idea of conservation and environmentalism in Dr. Seuss' The Lorax.
