Rain barrels are storage containers that collect rainwater from downspouts. The water can be used for purposes such as gardening, washing down patio furniture, and lawn watering. They also reduce the flow of water into the sewage stream. We recently learned that the Energy Coordinating Agency and the Philadelphia Water Department are providing free rain barrels to Philadelphia residents at two upcoming workshops next week. The details for each event are below. By attending either workshop you can sign up to receive a free rain barrel, which will be delivered and installed at your home! There's no need to register--you can just show up.
